Matthew King will personally design, specify and supervise each commission whether it be a bookcase or a library, a dining table or a whole kitchen.
He will start with a visit so you can set out your design brief. He will offer ideas, listen to your requirements, getting a feel for your tastes and how you like to live. He will suggest layouts, sketch concepts and enable you to draw on his wealth of experience. This process will continue until he is happy he fully understands the commission. The budget at this stage is necessarily a broad brush exercise, but is important both for designer and client. Much of the final cost can depend on the level of detailing; suffice to say, our kitchens start at around £25,000 while most fall into the range of £35-50,000.
Matthew will next produce a preliminary set of drawings, select materials and appliances, and finally draw up a thorough costing of our proposal. Then the presentation; you will be taken through the drawings, detailing will be explained samples of materials viewed and with the ensuing discussion, the treatment will be refined until you are completely happy with every detail. Finally, revised drawings and written confirmation of all amendments will shortly follow. Once the design is settled and the timescale organised we take a commissioning deposit of 40%.
Then we start the process of making the frames, cabinets, doors, drawers, plinths, pedestals and all the other parts that come together to make up a commission. Our production team will have been fully briefed by Matthew with detailed drawings and will now be supervised by our production manager, Giles Eastwood. We will at the same time liaise with your architect, project manager or builder to ensure that delivery and fitting can be integrated into your programme. Our fitters are highly experienced and selected to meet the standards we and our clients expect.
Because a hand made kitchen or library takes time to settle in, our service continues and we will be back to ease doors, check drawer runners and see that all is as it should be. We look after our clients as we know their satisfaction is the foundation of our reputation.
